Casey at the Bat
After a couple of years of working pretty much purely digitally, I was very excited to receive a commission from The National Pastime Museum in the good ol' US of A to produce an original piece for their Special Exhibition. It was very nice to have ink-stained fingers again!
The NPM have been commissioning a bunch of brilliant artists (and, er... me) to draw, paint or sculpt our interpretation of Ernest Thayer's classic American baseball poem, published in 1888. Check out the gallery of current works, and look out for mine in the near future... once it arrives in sunny San Francisco. (In keeping with the old-school techniques, I've just sent it off by carrier pigeon, so shouldn't be long, guys!)
Scroll... scroll, my pretties... to check out the sketch and in progress on the drawing board...
And finally, a close-up...
