Sick World
Cover art for The Spectator on global warming. The brief and tagline I was given was "We Can Fix It", but was changed slightly for the published version. Drawn with brush & ink, digitally coloured with minced Smurf.
Below are the sketches. The first was fun, but the editors wanted a more positive and optimistic attitude, and also felt that the crutch and broken arm could be interpreted as war. The focus needed to be squarely upon the high temperature of the earth, which I accentuated with colour in the finished art.
This issue is out now digitally (subscribe at the official Spectator site) or on newsstands in the UK soon.
Thanks for looking,
