Below are the thumbnails and sketch.  The first was a parody of Liberty Leading the People by Delacroix, with Ruddick as the bare-chested Lady Liberty and Abbott, Menzies and Howard leading the charge.  Actually, this was suggested by the editor, but he ended up picking the 'boarding up' concept instead.
